Dread God - the Munro Motto

On the coat of arms of the Munro's it says, "Dread God."

A lot of Munro's in Anglo-saxon history were warriors. They went into battle with this motto before them. They had a reputation of valour and dedication to the throne.

What does dread God mean? It means fear God. Am I supposed to fear God if I belong to Him and have been bought by Jesus? It becomes all different. A sinner fears God because God has to judge them.

A saved person needs to see God clearly with different eyes. The saved person is adopted by God. They become His child. It's like Lulu is to me. My adopted cat is the love of my life. The sinner becomes the apple of God's eye. Address God as Father.

Deuteronomy 32:9-10

New Living Translation (NLT)
“For the people of Israel belong to the Lord;
    Jacob is his special possession.
10 He found them in a desert land,
    in an empty, howling wasteland.
He surrounded them and watched over them;
he guarded them as he would guard his own eyes.[a]

Footnotes:
  1. Deuteronomy 32:10 Hebrew as the pupil of his eye.
So then, how do we approach God. We need to see God as loving and kind. He sees you not as your earthly father, but as your heavenly father, with similes of the earthly father. If your own father did not portray the traits of a good father, find out the traits of a good father and apply these to God. God is not a failure or disappointment as a father. He is all He should be. When we see Him as He is, we can talk to Him comfortably. What are the traits of a good father? Apply these traits to God the Father.

I bet if you put the terms "loving" and "kind" and "lovingkindness" into the biblegateway.com search feature, you would get more than 400 verses attesting to His kindness to us. I don't know. This is your task. Try a couple different translations.

That's our revelation. We need to fill our eyes with this view, so that when we pray we are in right relationship to Him. We are not supposed to approach God in fear. Then, when we talk to Him, we can be in harmony with Him. This was the friendship David had with Him. This was the friendship Hezekiah had with Him. This was the friendship Moses had with Him. If someone adored you, would you not like to know about it? I am telling you. God the Father adores you. Completely. Even if your own parents don't absolutely adore you, God does. He's like both your mother and your father.

Psalm 27:9-10

New Living Translation (NLT)
Do not turn your back on me.
Do not reject your servant in anger.
You have always been my helper.
Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me,
    O God of my salvation!
10 Even if my father and mother abandon me,
the Lord will hold me close.

Did you know God loves man so much, He tattoed man's name on His hand? Did you know that? Please note in the following section as well the reference to bridal ornaments.

Isaiah 49:14-18

New Living Translation (NLT)
14 Yet Jerusalem[a] says, “The Lord has deserted us;
    the Lord has forgotten us.”
15 “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child?
Can she feel no love for the child she has borne?
But even if that were possible,
    I would not forget you!
16 See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.
Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins.
17 Soon your descendants will come back,
and all who are trying to destroy you will go away.
18 Look around you and see,
for all your children will come back to you.
As surely as I live,” says the Lord,
“they will be like jewels or bridal ornaments for you to display.

Well the Munro's motto - there is a tie to other verses in the bible. Fear God more than those who destroy this body, for our eternal body is at stake. In war, the Munro's had to face man to man combat with swords. They faced the destruction of the body. I hope with an eternal sort of hope that the Munro's all loved Jesus. I want to see the whole clan in Heaven operating as one.

Please do this meditation I have linked here for you:

Please read the following with bold as mine.

4. Psalm 33: 26-21 Biblegateway.com

5. Psalm 10: 8-15 Biblegateway.com

God tends each man as a plant in his own garden. Old godly people produce fruit. God is their shelter.

Psalm 17:6-8

New Living Translation (NLT)
I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God.
Bend down and listen as I pray.
Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways.
By your mighty power you rescue
those who seek refuge from their enemies.
Guard me as you would guard your own eyes.[a]    Hide me in the shadow of your wings.

Verse 8: For mine, it says, "Protect me as you would the pupil of your eye."

Is this like covering the eye from the sun? Is it sheilding it from a blow?  The main thing is if God is looking down on his servant who is praying, the man is in the centre of the pupil for God. The request is for God to protect the man as if he were protecting himself, but also implies God is interested and is watching man's plight.

Psalm 27:14

New Living Translation (NLT)
14 Wait patiently for the Lord.
    Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

This is done in prayer. It is an attitude of address. It is an attitude as well of action.

Psalm 47:9

New Living Translation (NLT)
The rulers of the world have gathered together
with the people of the God of Abraham.
For all the kings of the earth belong to God.
    He is highly honored everywhere.

Mine is a bit more clan like and more in the vein of Scottish folk. My living bible  for the same verses goes:

The Gentile rulers of the world have joined with us in praising him--praising the God of Abraham--for the battleshields of all the armies of the world are his trophies. He is highly honored everywhere.

My interpretation: God has carefully picked up every warrior who died in battle defending a country. He has collected all the clan shields like little boys collect baseball cards. He's got the shields and he's got the army too. The men in battle who died in valor and who trusted him in the midst of this set of circumstances are his pride and glory. I hope my uncle is there too representing the RCAF No. 242 from the Second World War. So, all those families ever organized in clans, take hope. God is there for you.

Action:
Embrace God as your Father today. Ask Jesus into your heart and ask Him to forgive your sins. Why now?

In the visions and testimonies of the Columbian youths, one man addressed Jesus as Father. One of Jesus titles is Everlasting Father shown in Isaiah 8:6 Biblegateway.com

The man who addressed Jesus as Father was on the surface of the pool of suffering. His thoughts spoke to Jesus. He held out constant hope of still reaching out to God as Father. He knew about this truth in his life. He did not do it. Jesus replied, "I am not your Father" speaking that this man did not embrace Jesus as saviour during his life. To have access to this Father, we need Jesus first. We cannot cross the bridge to relationship with the Father without Jesus.
